Endorsements

It is a privilege to endorse Trudy Spiller for trustee. When I met Trudy at the BC Primary Teachers Conference I was impressed with her commitment to learning and learners. Now, having the good fortune to know her for several years and seeing the depth and breath of her work makes me very grateful that she is currently a SD62 trustee. I want to see her continue to be an advocate for all learners, families and educators.

Her book, Trudy’s Rock Story is a fine example of her ability to take complex issues and present them so people of all ages can understand. Trudy has been a District Role Model helping students learn about indigenous culture. Of course Trudy can help people expand their understanding of indigenous ways. I also admire her commitment to work for the well being of all students, their families and staff in SD62. Trudy is one of the brightest, kindest, most thoughtful people I have ever met. Her abilities to listen and articulate her ideas is a real asset to the district.

I am pleased to endorse Trudy Spiller as a candidate for SD62 Trustee. Trudy was an active member of several PACs for over two decades, spending countless hours volunteering her time. One notable project that Trudy spearheaded at Wishart Elementary School was to ensure there was a well-stocked emergency kit in every classroom and had a emergency supply shed constructed.

Trudy played an integral part in the Indigenous Role Model Program with SD62 for seven years prior to her election as an SD62 Trustee in 2022. Her knowledge and stories kept students spellbound in countless presentations. Trudy is a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who has raised her family with love, compassion and a strong sense of family and cultural values.

Trudy’s dedication to public education is inspiring. She will continue to make a significant impact in her second term as an SD62 Trustee, as she did in her outstanding first term.

There are people who come into your life and leave a lasting impression simply by the way they treat others. For me, that person is Trudy Spiller.

I’ve had the privilege of knowing Trudy for many years, and I can honestly say she is one of the most incredible women I’ve ever met. She is someone I deeply admire and look up to, not because she seeks recognition, but because of the quiet, selfless way she lives her life every single day.

Trudy has one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know. She is always the first person to step up when someone needs a hand, a shoulder to lean on, or simply someone to listen. Time and time again, I’ve watched her put the needs of others ahead of her own without expecting anything in return. That’s just who she is. She genuinely cares about people, and her kindness comes from the heart.

In a world where it’s easy to put yourself first, Trudy has always chosen to put others first. She leads with compassion, integrity, and humility. She doesn’t do it for recognition or praise, she does it because helping people is simply part of who she is.

I’m proud to call Trudy my friend, and I’m even prouder to support her. I know the same honesty, dedication, and genuine care she’s shown to her family, friends, and community for so many years will guide every decision she makes.

If you have the opportunity to support Trudy Spiller, I hope you will. Our community deserves someone with her heart, her character, and her unwavering commitment to making life better for others.

Trudy, thank you for being the amazing person you are. You have my complete support, and I know you’ll make all of us proud.

From reading to kids in classrooms, to working for you at the school board table, Trudy is an exemplary Colwood trustee. Her First Nations perspective provides an important balance to school district decision making.

I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Spiller for several years when we were both part of a quasi judicial tribunal dealing with Employment Insurance appeals. I found her to be a thoughtful, careful and compassionate person who invariably approached the task at hand with complete objectivity and fairness. She was always well prepared and efficiently organized which was helpful to me in my job as chairperson. While we worked together, I came to learn something about Trudy’s family dynamics and I was particularly impressed by the fact that, notwithstanding that her own children are grown, she continues to assume a leadership role in regards to the rearing and educational direction of young family members. It is without hesitation that I recommend Trudy Spiller as a school trustee.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Trudy for 10 years plus. She is well connected to family and community. A published author bringing aspects of her culture to many. Having already raised her children she is now raising her great niece and grandson. A tireless advocate for youth and education I fully support her efforts to become your SD 62 Board Trustee in Belmont Zone.

  1. I met Trudy at the Colwood Seaside Festival when I was doing photography. Even without knowing her background, I could see she had depth and wisdom. I support Trudy as School Board Trustee. She is dedicated to her work in the community and would bring much needed awareness and education to the schools regarding First Nations. Belinda
